Chloe Kelly has been honoured with a one-off Barbie in her likeness as Mattel rolls out a new ‘Dream Team’ campaign for International Women’s Day.
Arsenal and Lionesses forward Chloe Kelly has become the first England footballer to feature as a Barbie doll after being named in Mattel’s first ‘Barbie Dream Team’ of global female role models.The doll forms part of a new Dream Team initiative launched by Mattel around International Women’s Day, with eight women from different fields honoured with dolls made in their likeness.Kelly said: “I’m really happy seeing my very own Barbie doll. It put a smile on my face. The details were incredible, and as a young girl, you dreamed of having these moments, but they never seemed to be the case that they could become true.“To be a Barbie role model is so special. To have my very own one-of-a-kind Barbie doll. I’m very proud of that. I can’t wait to show my family. You don’t really believe these things could happen. You always look for the trophies and the wins on the pitch, but off the pitch, this is a massive win.”As well as Kelly, the group includes tennis star Serena Williams, research astronaut Kellie Gerardi, Mexican racing driver Regina Sirvent Alvarado, German singer Helene Fischer, Polish mountaineer Zoja Skubis, Australian surfer Stephanie Gilmore and Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana.Nathan Baynard, vice-president and head of Barbie at Mattel, said: “This International Women’s Day, we’re proud to build on that legacy with the launch of our Barbie Dream Team, celebrating an extraordinary group of global trailblazers who are paving the way for the next generation.“By honoring their achievements, we hope to inspire girls everywhere to pursue their passions boldly and realize their limitless potential.”Kelly’s doll is dressed in the England kit she wore during the Lionesses’ Euro 2025 win in Switzerland, when England retained the title after beating Spain on penalties following a 1-1 draw.Kelly was the match-winner in both of England’s recent European Championship triumphs, scoring the extra-time winner in the Euro 2022 final and converting the decisive penalty in the Euro 2025 shootout, adding to her record of delivering in the biggest moments on the international stage.
