Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabéu stadium has been rated as Europe’s most valuable stadium naming-rights asset, according to The Sponsor’s European Stadium Naming Rights Fair Market Value Report.
Real Madrid’s Bernabéu has been rated Europe’s most valuable stadium naming rights opportunity, with a fair market value of €21.1m per year, according to a new valuation of 75 major venues across the continent. The assessment, published in ‘The Sponsor’s’ European Stadium Naming Rights Fair Market Value Report and summarised by Coliseum, put Spotify Camp Nou second at €18.5m per year, followed by Allianz Arena (€16.4m), Emirates Stadium (€14.5m) and Wembley Stadium (€14.4m). The rest of the top 10 comprised Parc des Princes (€13.4m), Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (€12.9m), Etihad Stadium (€12.6m), Stade de France (€11.8m) and Anfield (€11.7m).Sean Connell, editor of The Sponsor, said: “The Bernabéu’s value is driven by an unrivalled combination of global reach, elite fixtures, central-city prominence, heritage and brand-new infrastructure, reinforced by a €1bn redevelopment.“With no naming partner currently in place, it stands as both the highest-valued stadium in Europe and the most attractive naming rights opportunity on the market.”The report estimated Europe’s top 75 stadiums hold a combined €520m in naming rights sponsorship value, while warning the market remains underdeveloped, with around two-thirds of venues in the dataset not currently holding a naming partner. It added that among the top 10 venues, only four have secured a naming rights partner, suggesting significant untapped inventory even at the top end of the market.Germany was described as the most mature naming rights market in the study, with 14 of the 18 Bundesliga stadiums said to have a naming partner. The report also argued that the Welsh Rugby Union’s Principality Stadium deal was the most “undersold” partnership across the dataset, while Juventus’ Allianz Stadium agreement in Turin was described as the most favourable deal for the rights-holder.The analysis also modelled potential naming rights value for Manchester United’s proposed ‘New Trafford’, suggesting an annual fair market value of about €17.2m – and more than €200m over time if the club maintains its sporting profile and increases global exposure through regular Champions League participation.
