CAF has raised prize money for its two flagship men’s club competitions, taking the Champions League winner’s payout to US$6m and the Confederation Cup champion’s to US$4m from the 2025/26 season.

The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has increased the winner’s prize money for the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League to US$6m for the 2025/26 season, up US$2m on the previous level. The winner of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup will receive US$4m, also up US$2m, doubling the top prize for Africa’s second-tier continental club competition. The changes are part of a wider uplift in cash distributions to clubs, with overall prize money and solidarity payments now running to more than US$42m per season.CAF linked the expanded support to the breadth of participation in its interclub competitions, with 130 clubs involved across the Champions League and Confederation Cup in 2025/26.For clubs, the higher payouts increase the commercial upside of deep runs, while also improving downside protection for those exiting early in qualifying. The expanded prize pot also strengthens CAF’s pitch to sponsors and broadcasters by raising the financial stakes and reinforcing the competitions’ positioning in the global rights market.CAF confirmed the two-legged Confederation Cup final will be played between May 9 and May 16, with the two-legged Champions League final on May 15 and May 24.
