Galatasaray will have no away support at Anfield for the Champions League last-16 second leg against Liverpool after UEFA upheld a ticket-selling ban and a €40,000 fine for crowd trouble in Turin.

Liverpool will face Galatasaray without travelling Turkish supporters at Anfield on March 18 after UEFA’s Appeals Body rejected the Istanbul club’s challenge to disciplinary sanctions imposed over fan misconduct in their previous round.UEFA banned Galatasaray from selling tickets to their supporters for their next away match in UEFA club competition and also fined the club €40,000, following incidents during the Champions League play-off second leg against Juventus in Turin on February 25.The governing body said Galatasaray supporters threw objects, set off fireworks and caused disturbances during the match, with media reports cited in the disciplinary coverage indicating a man and his daughter were injured by a firework launched towards Juventus fans. The decision removes Galatasaray’s away allocation from the Anfield fixture, impacting the matchday mix for both clubs and shifting the security and operational profile of the second leg, which would typically include an organised visiting contingent.Liverpool and Galatasaray are scheduled to play the first leg in Istanbul on Tuesday, with the return at Anfield on March 18.
