Personar's AI platform TrackSwift is to support Professional Game Match Officials (PGMO) operations, with the company saying the system is being used to assist live and post-match officiating analysis at Premier League matches.

London-based sports technology company Personar has announced that its TrackSwift platform is supporting football officiating operations in partnership with Professional Game Match Officials (PGMO), including work linked to Premier League match analysis.Personar said the AI system analyses match audio communications between on-field officials and video assistant referees (VAR) in real time to provide operational support during reviews, while also supporting post-match assessment and performance analysis. The company said the platform is designed to assist live in-game operations and speed up post-match review work, including identifying best practice, areas for improvement and consistency in the application of the Laws of the Game.Personar said the technology has previously been used in Formula 1 and has now been adapted for football officiating environments.Adrian Jones, chief executive and co-founder at Personar, said: “TrackSwift aids a wider game-changing approach to enhancing officiating transparency. "By leveraging advanced AI technology, we’re giving officials more tools to make better-informed decisions while simultaneously helping fans understand the complex judgments in matches. This is about enhancing the beautiful game.”Howard Webb, PGMO Chief Refereeing Officer, said: “Our match officials are highly-skilled individuals who are driven by delivering the best possible performance for the game. "We are always looking at ways to make those marginal gains, and Personar’s TrackSwift technology provides the officials and us with greater levels of information in an efficient manner, which we believe will continue to see us modernise with an ever-evolving game.”Personar said the platform also supports communication outputs used in public-facing explanations of decisions, including the Premier League Match Centre account on X.The announcement is positioned as an officiating support and analysis tool rather than an automated decision-making replacement, with Personar stating that the system supports match officials while maintaining human decision-making authority.
