Remo Stars Stadium has been approved for the flagship African Schools Football Championship finals that take place later this year.
Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne has been cleared to host the CAF African Schools Football Championship finals after a CAF delegation completed a two-day inspection of venues and support facilities in Ogun State. The inspection, centred on the Remo Stars Stadium and associated training infrastructure, was part of CAF’s venue sign-off process for the continental schools tournament, which is expected to bring boys’ and girls’ teams to Nigeria for the final stage. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed that the inspection had received approval to stage the championship following the inspection process.Inspectors praising the standard of the facilities with local reports saying: "The inspectors minced no words in stating how impressed they were with the facilities, with a member telling the President of Remo Stars FC and proprietor of the Institute, Hon. Kunle Soname that the facility remains the best he has ever seen in the whole of West Africa.” The CAF African Schools Football Championship is positioned by the confederation as a flagship development competition, with an emphasis on participation pathways and education alongside elite youth performance. The finals format typically requires not only match venues and training facilities, but safeguarding, medical provision, accommodation and transport plans, which is why inspections extend beyond stadium infrastructure.
