Sevilla’s president has insisted the club are not planning a permanent move away from the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán as planning continues for a rebuild on the same site, with a financing model built around future stadium revenues.
Sevilla FC president José María del Nido Carrasco has sought to reassure supporters over the club’s stadium plans by ruling out any permanent relocation from the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán amid renewed speculation about a move to Estadio La Cartuja. In an interview with Canal Sur Radio, Del Nido Carrasco said any games played at La Cartuja would only be a temporary solution linked to construction logistics, during the period between demolition of the current ground and completion of the new stadium. He also rejected suggestions that the stadium site could be repurposed for real estate development, with the club’s position presented as building a new ground on the same Nervión location rather than seeking a different long-term home.On financing, Del Nido Carrasco drew a distinction between football operations under LaLiga’s financial controls and infrastructure investment, describing a model in which the new stadium “pays for itself” through higher stadium-led revenues over time. The concept discussed includes increasing capacity to around 55,000 by lowering the pitch to create a steeper bowl, with the club framing the design goal as preserving the Sánchez-Pizjuán atmosphere while expanding hospitality and premium inventory to grow matchday and non-matchday income.
