SIGA has confirmed incumbent Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros as the sole candidate to remain Global CEO for 2026-2030, with a March 16 council vote set to tee up an April ratification by members in Lisbon.
The Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA) has announced Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros as the sole candidate for its Global CEO position for the 2026-2030 term after the close of the nominations process.The election will be decided on March 16, when SIGA’s Council votes on his candidacy under the organisation’s electoral regulations.If approved, the result will be submitted to SIGA’s members for ratification at its annual general assembly on April 14 in Lisbon, with the meeting due to be hosted by PwC.Macedo de Medeiros, a SIGA co-founder and its current Global CEO, is seeking a third and final mandate under the organisation’s three-term limit.He has led SIGA since its creation and has held the Global CEO role since 2018, after being re-elected in 2022.In his election manifesto, titled ‘Making Integrity Irreversible’, Macedo de Medeiros has pledged a programme focused on strengthening institutional capacity and accelerating implementation of SIGA’s reform agenda across sport.He has described his re-candidacy as centred on: “Delivery, accountability, and decisive action in advancing sport integrity worldwide.”SIGA said the work programme includes continued expansion of its Universal Standards on Sport Integrity and the SIGA Independent Rating and Verification System (SIRVS), which it positions as a global framework for independent rating and certification.The platform also includes reinforcing the Sport Transparency Index and launching IRIS, an Integrity Risk Intelligence System intended to address emerging digital, financial and transnational risks to sport governance and integrity.SIGA said the next-term priorities also include developing new Universal Standards covering AI and sport integrity, and social and environmental sustainability in sport, alongside strengthening safeguarding and youth protection mechanisms.Headquartered in Geneva, SIGA describes itself as an independent, non-profit coalition with more than 70 multi-industry members spanning sport, governments, business, rights holders, NGOs and professional services firms.
