Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has joined an expanded investor group at Le Mans FC as Brazilian fund OutField increased its stake to become the club’s majority shareholder.

Le Mans FC have announced that Thibaut Courtois has become one of the club’s owners, joining a widened group of European strategic investors as OutField increased its participation in the French side and moved into a majority position. The club’s statement said OutField – an investment group that entered Le Mans FC’s capital last summer – had “finalised the acquisition of the club” alongside a reinforced group of internationally recognised athlete-investors and European backers, with the aim of accelerating and consolidating the club’s long-term development.Thierry Gomez said: “OutField’s arrival comes at the best moment to support the club’s current momentum. It is a new, major step for the club, which should allow Le Mans FC to embed itself sustainably in French professional football and to continue its development with ambition, humility and serenity. Our signature ‘Tous Acteurs pour réussir’ takes its full place in this new phase of the club project.”OutField founder Pedro Oliveira said: “For more than ten years, we have invested and operated in football, in Brazil and internationally. Le Mans FC, alongside Thierry Gomez and the club’s teams, have built solid governance, a clear long-term vision and a desire to build a sustainable club – particularly through development and sporting competitiveness – while maintaining rigorous management. By strengthening our commitment today, our objective is to support and accelerate this project by bringing additional financial resources, as well as technical expertise and experience, to help Le Mans FC meet the challenges of French, European and international football.”Le Mans FC said OutField and the club’s leadership had set out a development plan structured around three priorities – the acquisition from the City of Le Mans of the La Pincenardière training base (Le Clos Fleuri), the reopening of the club’s training academy from July 2026 after more than a decade of closure, and the strengthening of the sporting and administrative teams. In the same announcement, Le Mans FC said existing athlete-investors Felipe Massa, Kevin Magnussen and Novak Djokovic remained part of the project, while Courtois has joined via his investment vehicle NxtPlay Capital alongside NinetyTwo X.Jordi Mora Esteve, a founding partner of NinetyTwo X, said: “We are extremely enthusiastic about the idea of joining a club with such a rich history and embracing Le Mans’ heritage. Many positive things have been achieved recently to make the club progress, and we want to extend that momentum.“Alongside Thierry, OutField and NxtPlay, our ambition is to create a modern football platform that strengthens the team, elevates the brand and brings supporters closer to the club, so that the city can continue to be proud of what we achieve together.”
