UCFB has struck a partnership with the Johan Cruyff Institute to launch new undergraduate, postgraduate and executive programmes aimed at developing sports industry leadership talent, extending Manchester’s football business education platform into a more overtly global offering.

University Campus of Football Business (UCFB) has agreed a strategic partnership with the Johan Cruyff Institute to launch three new academic programmes spanning undergraduate, postgraduate and executive education, as the specialist provider pushes further into leadership training for the global sports industry.The tie-up brings together UCFB’s London and Manchester delivery network with the Johan Cruyff Institute’s international footprint and brand equity linked to the late Dutch football great, as clubs, leagues and suppliers continue to professionalise roles across governance, commercial strategy and sporting operations.Brendan Flood, UCFB chair and founder, said: “This partnership represents a significant milestone for UCFB and for the future of global sports education. To collaborate with Johan Cruyff Institute, an institution founded on the philosophy and legacy of Johan Cruyff, is both a privilege and a natural alignment of values.”Flood added: “By combining our academic innovation and industry networks with Johan Cruyff Institute’s global perspective and leadership heritage, we are creating a powerful platform to develop the next generation of sports leaders; individuals who will shape the industry strategically, sustainably, and with true understanding of its global impact.”The initial course slate includes a BA (Hons) Sports Management programme delivered through blended learning with attendance elements in London and Manchester, with an optional study trip to Barcelona.A new MSc Sports Directorship is also being launched, positioned for former players and senior executives and focused on leadership, strategy and governance, aligning with the growing market for sporting director education as clubs formalise technical leadership structures.The third offering is an Executive Programme in Sports Leadership, currently under development, aimed at senior decision-makers and structured around multi-city modules covering finance, commercial leadership, innovation, fan engagement, governance and sport diplomacy.The agreement was signed at the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam by Flood and Jordi Cruyff, Ajax’s technical director and the son of Johan Cruyff.Jordi Cruyff said: “Developing leaders who understand both the game and the strategy behind it is essential for the future of sport.
